Jackson, Vu Earn KJCCC Track Athlete of the Week Honors

The first competition of the season for Butler track and field produced two weekly honors from the Jayhawk Conference.

Sophomore men's sprinter Eddy Vu and freshman women's sprinter Kayveonna Jackson earned KJCCC Track Athletes of the Week honors on Tuesday afternoon.

Vu, a Shirley, NY, native ran a 6.66 60m at the Friends First Chance Qualifier, winning the race. The mark qualified him for the NJCAA indoor nationals and is the second-best time in all the NJCAA currently. He also placed second at Nebraska's Graduate Classic in the 200m, running 22.22.

Jackson, a Tulsa, OK native also qualified for nationals in the 60m dash, running 7.53 at the Graduate Classic and placing second. Jackson then won the 200m dash in Lincoln with a time of 24.83 which qualified for nationals as well. Both marks are ranked third in the NJCAA.

The Grizzlies return to action at the Washburn Rust Buster on Saturday, Jan. 20th.
