Butler beats Labette on the road in five sets

On Monday, Butler went on the road to take on Labette and got the win but it took all five sets to get it done.  The Grizzlies started strong and took the first set 25-16 before dropping the second 25-18. Butler came back strong in the third set and won 25-14 and then followed that up by a loss in the fourth 25-19. Butler then took the final set 15-9 for the win.

Kailan Kuzmic led the offensive attack in the match for the Grizzlies with 14 kills and 14 digs. Mary Kangas had 38 assists with 11 digs and a service ace. Kailee Dudley added 13 kills and Jessi Green ended with 11 kills and 16 digs. Jessica Schwartz led the defense with 26 digs.

Butler has won its last three matches to improve to 14-5 overall and 4-2 in Jayhawk conference play. The Grizzlies will be back in action Wednesday at 6 p.m. at home against Longview (Mo.). Butler has won twice against Longview this season, once in the season-opener at the Johnson County Invitational and then a week ago Friday in Kansas City.
