Grizzlies move up another spot to 12th in Division II poll

For the third consecutive week, the Butler women's volleyball team moved up in the NJCAA Division II Top 20 national, which was released Wednesday.

The Grizzlies (19-5 overall, 4-2 conference) moved up one spot from 13th to 12th this week. Butler picked up five victories this week and is currently on a season-high eight game-winning streak. After opening the season with a 3-3 record, Butler has won 16 of its last 18 contests.

This past week, the Grizzlies defeated Longview (Mo.) in three straight sets last Wednesday, then went 4-0 at the East Central Invitational in Union, Mo. Butler defeated Lewis & Clark (Ill.), host East Central, Indian Hills (Iowa) and Mineral Area (Mo.) over the two-day invitational.

Butler is one of four KJCCC schools ranked this week. For the fifth consecutive week, Cowley (20-3) is ranked No. 1, while Johnson County (21-5) remained ranked third. Neosho County (19-5) stayed at 18th for the second week in a row.

Butler hosts Fort Scott (10-15 overall, 0-6 conference) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., then will travel to Springfield, Ill., for the Lincoln Land Invitational. The Grizzlies will open the two-day invite with a 4 p.m. match Friday against No. 6 Lincoln Land (Ill.), who is 20-2 on the season. Butler returns home with a Wednesday, Oct. 16 match against Kansas City Kansas at 6:30 p.m.
