Butler sweeps Fort Scott for ninth straight win

The Butler volleyball team ran its winning streak to nine straight matches with a sweep of Fort Scott on Wednesday at the Power Plant.

Butler took straight sets from the Greyhounds by scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-10.

The Grizzlies dominated all three sets with the exception of a Fort Scott run at the end of the second set. The Greyhounds, who were down by as many as 12 points early in that set, would outscore Butler 9-1 later to get within three at 23-20 before the Grizzlies scored the final two points to win.

The Greyhounds were the first to score in the third set, but the Grizzlies controlled the set from that point.

Butler was led by Kailan Kuzmic, who had 10 kills and three assists with two blocks. Kailee Dudley had seven kills and Payton White had five. Mary Kangas led Butler with 23 assists and 12 digs.

The Grizzlies are now 20-5 on the season and 5-2 in Jayhawk Conference play. Butler will play four matches this weekend at the Lincoln Land (Ill.) tournament before returning home for another conference match on Wednesday against Kansas City Kansas.
