The Butler volleyball team opened up the home portion of its schedule with a three-set sweep over Friends JV on Monday.
After going 3-1 at the Lamar Invitational over the weekend, Butler (4-2 overall, 0-1 conference) won its fourth consecutive match – the first time since the end of the 2014 season.
Butler won the first set 25-17 and took the second and third sets by identical 25-13 scores in the win.
The Grizzlies trailed just once all night, early in the first set as Friends had a 6-5 advantage. Butler then scored seven straight points behind the service of Abby Goodrum, taking a 12-6 lead. Butler's biggest lead was 18-9 before going on to win 25-17.
In the second set, Butler jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead with Brooke Fender serving. The Grizzlies also rolled easily in the third set.
Butler will travel to Concordia on Wednesday for a 6:30 match with Cloud County.
