Volleyball wins at Pratt for 25th victory, will host Region VI first round

Butler volleyball wrapped up the regular season Wednesday by reaching the 25-win mark with a four-set road win at Pratt.

Butler (25-10 overall, 10-6 conference) took the opening set with a 25-20 victory, then lost 29-27 in the second set before closing out the final two sets by winning 25-18 and 25-10.

The Grizzlies were led by sophomore middle hitter Aliyah Bernard with 17 kills and two aces, while sophomore outside hitter Nicole Klusener had 10 kills, three aces, and 28 digs. Freshman Braylon Daniels finished with nine kills, twoaces, 12 digs and two blocks. Sophomore libero Abby Goodrum had 35 digs and three aces. Sophomore setter Andie Nibarger had 28 assists, five kills, 10 digs and one ace, whie sophomore setter Alex Stiles added 16 assists.

Butler reached the 25-win plateau for the seventh time under head coach Rick Younger. The Grizzlies reached two marks for first time in school history – finishing above .500 in KJCCC Western Division play and clinching a Region VI first-round home playoff game.

The Grizzlies will host the first round of the Region VI playoffs on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m, with the opponent yet to be determined. Butler will play either Barton or Garden City, as the rest of the conference play will finish up this weekend.
