The Butler volleyball team saw its season come to a close with a straight-set loss to visiting Garden City in the Region VI opening round on Wednesday at the Power Plant.
Butler was playing in its first home playoff match after earning the third seed after a 25-10 regular season. The Grizzlies had won eight of their past 10 matches, including their last two matches of the season.
Garden City, which had split the season series with Butler, jumped out to a 14-6 lead early in the first set and set the tone for the match, winning 25-18, 25-20 and 25-18.
Butler's season ends at 25-11.
