Grizzlies continue winning streak, stretch it to six with win at Pratt

The Grizzly volleyball team continues their winning streak stretching it to six straight wins after defeating Pratt on the road Saturday night three sets to one (23-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-16).

Pratt struck first and quick scoring the first five points in set one. The Grizzles wouldn't let it phase them as they clawed back within one 10-11. Butler took their first lead of the set, 20-19, after an errant serve by the Beavers sailed long and out of bounds. That would be the final lead for the Grizzlies in the set as Pratt scored six of the next nine points to take set one 25-23.

It was Butler's turn early in set two as they took a 6-2 lead to start the second set. They maintained a comfortable lead throughout the set looking leading by eight, 22-14, before stalling out. Pratt pieced together a valient comeback scoring seven straight cutting the Grizzly lead to only one. The set was tied 23-23 when Pratt committed to attack errors and Butler escaped with the 25-23 win evening out the match at one each. 

After two tight sets, Butler found their groove and controlled sets three and four. In Set three, they took an early 5-2 lead and never looked back cruising to a 25-18 win. The fourth and final set was much of the same as the Grizzlies struck quick and fast leading 4-0 before Pratt could take a breath. It was 24-12 Grizzlies, when Pratt tried to rally and fight off match point. The Beavers scored four in a row but 3-1 match win.

Amalie Rupertova had her best performance of the year tallying 17 kills in the match. She added in 13 digs, two blocks and two servings aces. Jaryn Benning also had a season high in kills with 12. Keera Parks finished with seven kills while Milayna Hollinger and Morgan Bryand both added five kills to the mix. Sydney Scanlon tied her season high in set assists with 41 while serving up two aces and totaling nine digs. 

Butler (8-5,3-3) will look to continue their streak as the host two conference opponents at home this week taking on Hutchinson (6-8,3-3) Monday night and the Barton Cougars (9-5,2-1) Wednesday night. Both home games will start at 6:30pm from the Power Plant in El Dorado.
