Grizzlies win 17th straight, defeat Garden City 3-0

The No. 7-ranked Grizzlies won their 17th straight contest with a 3-0 thumping of Garden City Wednesday night in the Power Plant.

Set scores: 25-11, 25-14, 25-8

From the first point of the night when a ball from Kayli Duncan slammed into the face of the libero, everyone could tell the Grizzlies were ready for this match. Having lost to Garden City on the road in the spring, Butler had some unfinished business with the Broncbusters which they handled on the court.

The Grizzlies dominated in all facets of the game with the maybe the best stat of the night was their team hitting percentage finishing .436 on the night. National Player of the Week Kayli Duncan along with Ivy Fink both had a team high nine kills. Duncan hit .600 and had eight blocks in the match. Jaryn Benning posted eight kills, seven digs while also recording eight blocks on the night. Macie Shaver finished with 21 set assists while Rainey Aven finished with 16, an ace and a kill.

Butler has now won 51 of their last 55 sets played and, with this being their last game to play this month, the Grizzlies did not lose during the month of September.

Butler is 21-2 overall and improved to 7-0 in conference action. They have a game and a half lead on Barton who is currently in second and Seward sits in third at 5-2.

It is a well-deserved weekend off for the Grizzlies as they have yet to have a non-game playing weekend since the start of the season in mid-August. Butler will be back though for two weekday home games starting with Pratt on Monday, October 4th at 6:00pm and then the Grizzlies host Dodge City on Wednesday, October 6th at 6:00pm in the Power Plant.
