Butler sweeps Cougars 3-0 in Great Bend Saturday night

The Butler Grizzlies continued their winning ways on the court as they picked up their 10th straight victory on Saturday, defeating the Barton Cougars in straight sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-22) on the road in Great Bend.

Butler improves to 6-0 in conference play with the win and 10-4 overall. They have now won 24 straight KJCCC games dating back to their undefeated conference record last season. 

Butler was carried by Ivy Fink, Kennedy Kelly and Carrie Roe offensively, as the trio all finished with double digits in the kills department. Kelly led the team with 12 while Fink was close behind with 11. Fink also contributed two service aces as the team combined for seven total in the match. Rainey Aven was her usual self in the middle of the court, contributing 35 assists in the winning effort. Libero Sydney Morrow led the way on the defensive side of the ball as she finished with 16 digs while Aven and Kelly both contributed three blocks. 


The challenging schedule continues for Butler next week as they travel west to Dodge City on Wednesday before a four game weekend slate in Hutchinson, Kansas at the Blue Dragon Classic where the Grizzlies will face four ranked or receiving votes teams in Iowa Western, Mineral Area, MSU-West Plains and Indian Hills.
