Butler picks up road win in three set sweep of Garden City

The Butler Grizzlies quickly bounced back from a loss to Seward with a convincing win over Garden City one night later, defeating the Broncbusters on the road in straight sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-20) at Conestoga Arena on Saturday.

Every set was close, but the Grizzlies powered through to earn the sweep. It was a dominating night from Kennedy Kelly. The sophomore from Frisco earned 12 kills, on an impressive 24 attempts. For a hitting percentage of .500. The stellar night brings her season hitting percentage to .394 and her kills per set average to 2.45. She's currently on pace to break the program record for hitting percentage, which is held by 2010 Grizzly Amanda Newlin, who hit for .379. 

Kelly was joined offensively by Ivy Fink who matched Kelly with 12 kills of her own. McKenna Rhodes was the other Grizzly to notch double figures with 10. Butler finished with 48 kills on a hitting percentage of .263.

Rainey Aven notched 40 assists, hitting the 40 mark for the 11th time this season, easily leading the Grizzlies, accounting for all but six of Butler's assists. She also led Butler on the serve, leading the team with four aces. 

The win improves the Grizzlies record to 19-11 and 10-2 in conference play. Butler has played at home just four times this season but they finally get back to home cooking this week, playing the final four matches of the regular season at the Power Plant. First up for the Grizzlies will be the Barton Cougars on Wednesday before hosting Dodge City on Saturday.
