Grizzlies fall to Saints in Region VI Championship game

The Butler Grizzlies bowed out of the Region VI Tournament as they lost in the championship against the top seed and host Seward Saints, falling in four sets by a score of 3-1 (11-25, 25-18, 21-25, 23-25) at the Greenhouse in Liberal on Saturday.

The Grizzlies were led once again by Carrie Roe and Ivy Fink who led the team in kills for their second straight match. Roe and Fink each finished with 13 kills but the Grizzlies couldn't find much offense outside of their starlet duo as Butler totaled only 44 kills as a team.

If this was Rainey Aven's last match as a Grizzly, she went out in style, finishing with 35 assists to add to her record breaking season total. She also contributed four kills and one ace.

The Grizzlies fall to 25-12 and will hope for an at large bid to extend their season as they are at the hands of the selection committee who will decide which teams get an at large bid to the national tournament at West Plains, Missouri next week.
