The Butler Community College Cross Country is of to a running start. Both the Women's and Men's Teams opened up the season at the Allen Cross Country Duals. The Dual Meet scoring was a unique way of scoring the team side of the meet. After the race was ran each team was matched head to head with the other teams for the scoring.
Lady Grizzlies finished the meet with a 2-0 record and the overall team championship. The Grizzlies finished with a 3-1 record and 2nd overall. The only team to beat the Grizzlies was Garden City.
Individually the Ladies were led by Freshman Fiona Masai (3rd Place) and Sophomore Mychressa Ward (4th Place). Also in the top 15 for the Lady Grizzlies were Juliette Gourdet (9th Place), Guadalupe Burciaga (10th Place), Martha Avila (13th Place), Alex Jones (14th Place) and Aadrian McCollum (15th Place).
On the Men's side the team was led by sophomores, Kelvin Busienei (3rd Place) and Benson Langat (5th Place). Also finishing in the top 15 was Heber Jimenez (10th Place).
The Next action for BCC will be September 3rd when they will compete in the J.K. Gold Classic hosted by Wichita State University.
