Butler runners compete at Fort Hays State meet

HAYS, Kan. – The Butler cross country teams competed in the Fort Hays State Invititational on Saturday, with the women placing 12th as a team and the men placing 16th as a team.

Abiane Collymore led the women, finishing 46th individually with a time of 19:25.02. Next for the Grizzlies was Janell Kidd placing 90th with a time of 20:31.36, followed Lindi Young (93rd in 20:44.54), Hayley Ribordy (98th in 20:54.43), Tricia Trupe (107th in 21:03.90), Notah Kendell (118th in 21:28.91), and Hayley Flanigan (137th in 22:27.62) and Terra Flores (153rd in 23:35.44).

The Butler men were led by Edwin Serem who finished sixth individually in the men's 8k run with a time of 24:31.60 with an average mile of 4:56.1.

Next for the Grizzlies was Israel Mendoza finishing 137th with a time of 27:28.00, followed by Max Surmeier (182nd in 28:55.30), Cody Frye (216th in 32:22.40), and Larry Al (219th in 33:22.10).

The next meet for the Butler distance runners will be this Friday, Oct. 18 at Wartick Ranch for the Ollie Islom Invitational.
