Butler women finish fourth at Oklahoma Baptist Invitational

SHAWNEE, Okla. — The Butler women's cross country team took fourth place at the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational on Saturday.

Butler scored 102 points while placing all five runners in the top 25. With 16 points and five runners in the top six, host Oklahoma Baptist won its home meet, while East Central (OK) and Dallas Baptist finished second and third with 54 and 91 points, respectively.

For the second straight meet, sophomore Jade Searles was Butler's top runner, finishing the 5K course with a time of 20:17.94 for a 16th-place finish. Roshae Burrell crossed the line just behind Searles at 20:18.69 in 16th place.

The Grizzlies then had three runners finish near each other, as Spencer Jacobson (20:33.62), Conangela Senior (20:35.66) and Jeanna Baker (20:37.44) placed 23rd, 25th and 26th.

Also finishing the course for Butler were Irine Jepkemboi (22:19.00, 48th) and Sheila Samoei (22:44.00, 50th).

Butler will host its only home meet of the season on Monday, Oct. 16 with the Ollie Isom Invitational. The meet gets underway at Wartick Farm with the women's 5K at 4:00 p.m., then the men's 8K follows at 4:45 p.m.
