Butler Cross Country closes out season at NJCAA National Championships

The Butler cross country teams wrapped up their 2021 season in Richmond, VA in the NJCAA Div. I National Championships Saturday morning. 

The men finished 18th in the meet and the women were 22nd overall.

Victor Jumo finished the highest of with a 29th place finish running a 25:39.6 8K race. Erick Chavez was the next top finisher for the men coming in 48th with a time of 26:29.1. Valeur Muyoboke ran a 27:44.2 good for 104th while Zack Trotter came in 157th with a time of 29L51.5. Garin Knight rounded out the scoring for Butler with a 192nd place finish running a 34:47.5.

On the women's side, Campbell Williams had the highest finish coming in 109th running the 5K race in 22:07.6. Emily Hankins, Toby McClure and Leyni Gomez ran a close race to each other finishing 118th, 122nd and 129th. Hankins finished with a time of 22:28.4 while McClure ran a 22:40.7 and Gomez finished at 23:14.7. Ann Dangha finished out the scoring for Butler with a 149th place finish running a 23:35.5.

The Cross-Country team will now turn their attention to indoor track and field season which will start in January.
