Track and field athletes compete at OU and Tabor

A select group of Cowley College track and field athletes recently competed at the University of Oklahoma John Jacobs Invitational held Friday and Saturday in Norman, OK. While, the remainder of the Tiger track and field athletes took part in the Tabor College Invitational held Saturday in Hillsboro, KS.

Tiger throwers Mario Garcia Arroyo, Ahmed Brown, Jaden Schneeberger, Simeon Faagai, Trevor Green, and Conner Kaplinger competed at the University of Oklahoma along with Cowley runner Adrian Diaz-Lopez and Goran Duijsters. Diaz-Lopez highlighted the meet by placing second in the 1,500-meter run.

Cowley sophomore Kayla McClellan was the lone Lady Tiger to compete at OU as she placed 13th in the hammer throw.

Fellow Lady Tiger thrower Kyra Choice placed first in the shot put while competing at the Tabor College Invitational, while Abigail Pinnock placed first in the 800-meter run.

The Tiger men were led by Santiago Nunez winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Tabor, while Gabe Maui finished second in the long jump.

The Cowley track and field teams will take part in the Southwestern College Relays Saturday at 9 a.m. in Winfield, KS.
