#17 Red Ravens and #6 Butler Play to a 1-1 Tie

El Dorado, Kan. - Two overtimes were not enough for the Red Ravens and Grizzlies.  The #17 NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Soccer Team played through two overtimes and ended with a 1-1 tie against the #6 ranked Butler Community College Grizzlies.  With the tie, the Red Ravens' overall record now stands at 6-1-1 including a 2-0-1 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchups.

Butler jumped on the scoreboard first scoring a goal barely over eight minutes into the first half.  From that point through the rest of the first half, the Red Ravens seemed to be back on their heels a little.  Butler had ten shots in the first half compared to Coffeyville's three.

The second half saw Coffeyville play more offensively controlling more possessions and overall being more aggressive.  The aggressive nature paid off with freshman, and reigning KJCCC player of the week, Thayline Teixeira netting a Red Raven goal six minutes into the second half to tie the match at 1-1.

The second-half aggression also led to the shot count being flipped from the first half with Coffeyville having six shots in the second half compared to Butler's two.

Coffeyville's sophomore goalie Catriona Burns faced six shots on goal in the game while only allowing a single goal.

Through the end of the match and two additional overtime periods, neither team was able to break the tie, and the game ended with a 1-1 tie.

Coffeyville will be back in action on Sunday, September 18th with a road match at Garden City Community College.  Kick-off is scheduled for 11:00 am in Garden City Kansas.
