Butler baseball remains undefeated after three games in Edmond, Okla. on Thursday and Friday.

Butler defeated Redlands 9-1 in the early game on Thursday, then beat Eastern Oklahoma State 10-3 in the later game.

On Friday, Butler was scheduled to play Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, but the Norse pulled out of the game citing weather concerns. Butler scrambled and scheduled another game against Redlands to replace the NEO game. Butler won that contest 10-2.

Butler is now 5-0 on the season. The Grizzlies are scheduled to play a single nine-inning game against McPherson JV on Tuesday and then will play a four-game home set against Des Moines Area Community College on Saturday and Sunday at McDonald Stadium.

Butler 9, Redlands 1

Butler starting pitcher Zach Bravo set the tone for the Grizzlies, striking out all three Redlands batters in the top of the first inning. He would go on to strike out 11 batters in five innings of work, allowing just one run on a pair of doubles in the third inning. It would be the only two hits he allowed.

Dillan Janak came on in relief and threw four scoreless innings with three strikeouts to earn the victory, making him 2-0 on the season.

Offensively, Butler didn't score its first run until the third inning, but the Grizzlies scored three in the seventh and five more in the eighth.

Butler's first run was aided by a Redlands error. Colby Standard led off the inning with a single. While at first, the pitcher tried to pick him off at first, but threw the ball wide of the bag, allowing Standard to reach third. One batter later, Tanyon Shafer grounded out to second, allowing Standard to score to tie the game 1-1.

In the seventh, Tanyon Shafer singled to drive in Parker Base. One batter later, Colby Deaville tripled to right, scoring Standard and Shafer.

In the eighth, Butler put up five more. The big shot was a two-run homer by Javier Pena, his first and team's first of the season. Paker Base had an RBI double to right and Cade Morrow had an RBI single up the middle. Butler's final run came when Morrow scored on a wild pitch.

Butler 10, Eastern Oklahoma State 3

Butler jumped on Eastern early, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. Leadoff hitter Colby Deaville walked and scored on a double by Jack Maki. Joshua Cox walked and Javier Pena was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

A sacrifice fly by Patrick Bethea scored Maki to make it 2-0, then Parker Base doubled down the left field line to score Cox and Pena for the 4-0 lead.

Butler starter Blake Rohm threw a scoreless first inning before allowing two runs unearned runs in the bottom of the second as the Butler defense made two errors behind him. He would throw two more scoreless innings in the third and fourth.

Butler added a run in the fifth as Tanner Buckley doubled and scored on a single by Noah Argenta to make it 5-2.

The Grizzlies would score another four-spot in the top of the fifth. Tanner Buckly drove in a run with a single and Argenta added two more RBI with a double. Jack Maki would draw a bases-loaded walk to force in another run and Butler was up 9-2.

The final run came in the top of the sixth when Patrick Bethea walked, moved to second on a ground out, then stole third and stole home.

Butler relievers Alex Jacobs and Chase Van Steenberg closed out the game. Jacobs threw two scoreless innings in the fifth and sixth and Van Steenberg allowed one unearned run in the seventh.

Butler 10, Redlands 2

Butler got five dominating innings from starting pitcher David Henderson, then scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth to put the game away.

Henderson threw five scoreless, striking out 11 Redlands batters, matching the total put through five innings the day before by Zach Bravo. Henderson earned the win, making him 1-0 on the season. Jayton Haggard allowed two unearned runs in the sixth and John Rubeo made his Butler debut, throwing a scoreless seventh inning with a pair of strikeouts.

Paker Base got Butler going offensively, with an inside-the-park homer to right-center in the bottom of the second inning. Butler scored twice in the third. Patrick Bethea tripled to right to score Javier Pena, and then scored himself when Base reached first on a dropped third strike. That made it a 3-0 game.

Butler went for seven runs in the fifth. The first three runs scored on Redlands errors. Dylan Werries had an RBI single, Colby Deaville had an RBI triple and Jack Maki had an RBI groundout to second. The final run came on an RBI single by Bethea to score Pena.

Bethea was 3-4 on the game with two runs scored and two runs driven in. Pena was 2-4 while Base was 1-4 with two runs scored and two more driven in.
