Grizzlies drop a pair in Great Bend

It was a bad day at the office for the Butler Grizzlies in Great Bend, as they dropped both games in a doubleheader against the Barton Cougars on Wednesday, losing the first game, 2-1 before dropping the second game 12-2.

Game One

Coming off a game against Seward that saw the Grizzlies score 23 runs, Butler managed just one in the first game of the day. Jackson Syring batted in Jaren Jackson for the only run of the game.

It was a pitchers duel, and Braxton Hyde did all he could, pitching six innings and giving up only one run on three hits, striking out eight batters. But Barton scored the winning run in the seventh inning on a walk off single.

Game Two

Butler managed just two runs on four hits in the second game, as they were run ruled by the Cougars in eight innings. Bryce Zimmerer and Sam Siegel earned the team's two RBIs.

Tanner Leslie got the start for the Grizzlies and gave up six runs on six hits in four innings of work.

The sweep will drop the Grizzlies to 14-10 on the year. The series with the Cougars will shift to McDonald Stadium on Saturday as the Grizzlies will hope to earn a series split.
