Clayton Woods joins Butler Football as Tight Ends/H-Backs coach

Clayton Woods joins Tim Schaffner and company as the newest member of the Butler Football family. Woods is replacing former coach Bradley Oh who is now coaching at Highland Community College, KS.

Woods, a December 2019 graduate and football player of Oklahoma University, takes over as the Tight Ends and H-Backs coach for the Grizzlies.

A Dallas, TX native, Woods attended Highland Park high school where he graduated in 2015. He attended the University of Texas San Antonio right out of high school. In 2017, Woods transferred to Blinn College where he continued school and was a member of the Buccaneer football team. As a junior in 2018, Woods walked onto the football team at Oklahoma University. His senior year, he earned a football scholarship and was most recently named to the Academic All Big 12, 1st Team.

"Butler is an amazing place to start my coaching career," said Woods. "There is so much tradition here and an amazing staff that I will be able to learn and grow from."

Woods got to know former Grizzly Ben Powers during their time together at Oklahoma and was able to learn a lot about Butler from Ben.

"Ben always talked about Butler. Seeing him come in and have an immediate impact showed me that Butler really knows how to teach and develop players," said Woods.

Woods has always wanted to coach, and he is excited he finally gets the opportunity to do that at Butler.
