Butler football climbs two spots to No. 8 in this week’s NJCAA Football Poll

The Butler Grizzlies check in at No. 8 in this week's NJCAA Div. I National Football Poll after starting the season 2-0.

This is the highest the Grizzlies have been ranked in the NJCAA Poll since they finished the 2019 season ranked No. 5 in the country.

Butler defeated Highland on the road last Saturday 45-3 to improve to 2-0 on the season. Having just been receiving votes in the preseason poll, Butler has come in at No. 10 and now No. 8 in the first two weeks of the season.

The Grizzlies are faced with a top-10 opponent this weekend as the Snow Badgers return to El Dorado, the first time since 2019. The Badgers dropped from No. 5 to No. 10 this week after losing on the road to No. 1 New Mexico Military 38-7.

Three Jayhawk conference schools are in the Top-15 this week with Hutchinson at No. 2, who jumped Iowa Western this week. Butler is now at No. 8 and Coffeyville sits at No. 11 having started the season 2-0. Independence is receiving votes and Garden City dropped out of the poll with their two losses.

It will be a telling week as Hutchinson will play No. 7 Iowa Central, Butler will play No. 10 Snow, Coffeyville and Independence square off and Iowa Western and Garden City play each other.
