Butler men fall 64-59 to Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa

The Butler mens basketball team suffered a tough 64-59 road defeat to the Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa Mavericks on Tuesday night in Tonkawa, Okla.

Bakari Triggs led the Grizzlies with 15 points, while Sean Osler added 13 for the Grizzlies (4-2 overall).

Butler led through most of the first half, leading as much as 19-10 midway through the first half. Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa would battle back and take its first lead of the game, 29-27, with 3:03 remaining. The Mavericks would increase the lead to 37-30 at halftime.

The Grizzlies closed the deficit to three points on three separate occassions in the second half, with the last time coming on three-point baskets from Bakari Triggs and Osler with 4:52 left in the contest to make the score 57-54.

Osler would hit another three-pointer from the top of the key with 48.9 seconds to pull Butler within two, 61-59. However, the Mavericks would hit 3-of-4 foul shots down the stretch to win the game.

The Butler men will host Friends JV on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Power Plant.
