Butler men extend win streak to five with victory over Allen

<p>The Butler mens basketball team extended their winning streak to five games with a 71-60 non-conference road win against Allen County on Tuesday night.</p>
<p>Eric Watson scored a game-high 17 points for Butler (7-2), who needed a second-half comeback to defeat the Red Devils.</p>
<p>Butler opened the game with a 7-0 run and held Allen County scoreless until the 14:23 mark of the first half. The Grizzlies would double-up the Red Devils 22-11 on a Jordan Madrid-Andrews layup with 8:53 remaining in the half. Eric Watson scored 10 points in the first half for Butler, who took a 32-22 lead at halftime.</p>
<p>In the second half, Allen chipped away at the lead and tied the game at 41-all on a Ricky Roberts three-pointer at the 11:55 mark. Just 18 seconds later, Allen's Bryce Schippers hit another trey.</p>
<p>The Red Devils would lead by as many as five points, including a 55-50 lead with 6:05 to play. Butler would come back to tie the contest at 57-all when Shomari Triggs hit 1-of-2 foul shots with 2:43 remaining. Triggs would hit 2-of-2 from the charity stripe just 23 seconds later to put Butler up for good 59-57.</p>
<p>Butler ended the contest with a 21-5 run and hit 15-of-16 free throws down the stretch.</p>
<p>In addition to Watson's 17 points, Jordan Madrid-Andrews added 13 points and six rebounds. Bakari Triggs pitched in with nine points and Sean Osler scored eight points and pulled down seven boards.</p>
<p>The Butler men return home after the Thanksgiving break with a 7:30 p.m. contest against Neosho County on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
