Adler's career night leads Butler over Seward, 103-65

Will Adler hit eight 3-pointers, leading the Butler men to a 103-65 win over the visiting Seward County Saints on Wednesday at the Power Plant.

Adler hit four from the perimeter in the first half, then added three more quickly in the second half. His final three of the game gave him a career-high 26 points, leading the Butler attack.

His hot shooting helped Butler to go on a 30-8 run to finish the first half, taking a 53-28 lead at the break.

Butler had started the game hot, scoring the first 11 points of the contest. Seward took nearly five minutes to score its first points. The Saints would get within three points at 23-20, but Jacolby Harris hit a 3-pointer and Semaj Hervey got a steal and a layup to push Butler's lead back to eight points.

Will Adler made his first 3-pointer with 5:13 left in the first half and then added three more in the final 2:32 of the period.

The second half featured more hot shooting from Butler. The Grizzlies shot 54 percent from the floor (38-70) including an astounding 49 percent from 3-point range (17-35). Butler had 26 assists on its 38 baskets. 

In addition to the 26 points from Adler, Butler also got 15 from LaJuan Hardy, 13 from Jacolby Harris and 11 from Semaj Hervey. All 12 Butler players scored at least one point in the win. Charles Beauregard led Seward with 20 points.

The Grizzlies never trailed in the game and stretched the lead to as many as 40 points late in the contest. 

Butler improves to 4-1 overall on the season and evens its Jayhawk Conference record at 1-1. The Grizzlies will face an undefeated Barton team at home on Saturday. The Cougars rolled to a 92-70 win at home over Garden City on Wednesday in a matchup of unbeaten teams.
