Kyle Fisher is the new head men's basketball coach at Butler after seven successful seasons as the top assistant at Coffeyville, including a run to the Final Four this season.

Serving under Jay Herkelman, who is the winningest coach in Region VI history, Fisher helped the Ravens to a record of 179-55 and four trips to the national tournament, including three in a row.

"It's an honor and privilege to be the next head coach at Butler, " Fisher said. "The basketball program has a rich history and tradition that I'm excited to build with.  I look forward to continuing to move the program forward to a championship level both on and off the floor.  

"I am extremely grateful to Todd Carter, Bill Rinkenbaugh, and Dr Krull for the opportunity to lead this program.  My family and I are eager to build relationships within the program and in the community of El Dorado.  My wife, Kathryn, and my daughters, Rose and Grace, are very excited to be joining the Butler family," Fisher said.

Fisher replaces Bryan Miller, who resigned after four years at Butler with a record of 68-54, going 43-48 in Jayhawk Conference play.

"We has a tremendous number of well-qualified applicants for this position, but Kyle stood out for several reasons," Butler Athletic Director Todd Carter said. "He has worked for one of the greatest coaches in KJCCC history. He has great energy and passion. We believe he will be a fantastic fit at Butler."

Coffeyville rolled to the Jayhawk East Conference title this year with a 19-1 record. The Ravens advanced the the national tournament in Hutchinson and reached the national semifinals before being eliminated by Ranger (Texas).

Prior to Coffeyville, Fisher served as the top assistant at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, Ariz. for two seasons. Prior to Eastern Arizona, Fisher served two seasons as the top assistant at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa. Prior to coming to Creston, Fisher served as a graduate assistant for his alma mater, Washburn University in Topeka. 

Fisher was a four-year member of Washburn's basketball team where he played for Hall of Fame Coach Bob Chipman. A native of Liberty, Mo., Fisher graduated from Liberty High in 2003.  Fisher holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Washburn University and a M.S. in Sports Administration from the University of Central Missouri.
