Grizzlies voted second in KJCCC Preseason Poll and 23rd in the National Poll

The Butler Grizzlies Men's basketball team comes into the 2022-23 season with high hopes, as they are picked second in the Jayhawk Conference and are ranked 23rd in the nation after the preseason rankings were announced.

Kyle Fisher's team comes into the 2023 season off a year that saw them go 23-9 overall and 16-8 in conference play, finishing third in the Jayhawk Conference and falling in the semifinals of the Region VI tournament in Salina to the Hutchinson Blue Dragons.

Butler is picked only behind the Blue Dragons in conference rankings after a season that saw Hutch go to the national tournament last season. Hutchinson narrowly defeated the Grizzlies three times last season. The Dodge City Conquistadors were the only team to beat the Grizzlies twice last year in a historic season that saw the Conqs win the Jayhawk Conference and the Region VI title.

Nationally, the KJCCC is well represented, as four Jayhawk teams come into the nation ranked nationally. Hutch is highest in the polls, coming in at 13th in the country. The 2021 national champion Coffeyville Red Ravens comes in at 14th in the country, while Seward checks in at 16th. The Grizzlies, 23rd in the poll, are ahead of conference opponents Dodge City, Cowley, and Garden City, who are all unranked but receiving votes in the preseason rankings.

The Grizzlies open the 2022-23 season on November 1st, as they host Bethany College JV at the Power Plant to start their 2022-23 campaign.
