Butler men move up to No. 18 in this week's National Poll

The Butler Grizzlies earned three straight victories to open up the season, dispatching Bethany JV in the first game of the season before heading to Sedalia, Missouri and earning two wins against Labette and State Fair last weekend, and those victories were reflected in the polls as the Grizzlies moved up five spots to 18th in the newest edition of the Top 25 rankings after they were announced on Monday.

Butler is one of four teams in the Jayhawk Conference to be included in the polls this week. The Grizzlies jumped over conference foes Seward, who dropped five spots in the rankings to 21st. It's the Hutchinson Blue Dragons who take the honor of highest Jayhawk Conference team as the Dragonss are now ranked sixth, moving up seven spots. Coffeyville also bumped up two spots to 12th after earning two victories in their opening week. Three other Jayhawk teams are on the cusps of the rankings, as Cowley, Dodge City, and Garden City all received votes in this week's polls.

It's the second straight year in which the Grizzlies have started the season 3-0 and ranked in the Top 25 after the first week of the year. Last year, the Grizzlies started the season with victories over Tabor and Marshalltown before an upset win over Indian Hills on the road, who were ranked second in the country at the time. The upset boosted Kyle Fisher's squad to ninth in the country after the opening week of the season.

Next up for the 18th ranked Grizzlies will be a home matchup against the Kansas City Kansas Blue Devils at the Power Plant on Tuesday before traveling on the road to Oklahoma for two games, facing Northern Oklahoma College-Enid on Friday before a matchup against Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa on Saturday.
