Grizzlies roll in Goodland; improve to 19-2 on the season and undefeated in KJCCC games

Butler Softball (19-2, 8-0) rolled to two more victories Sunday afternoon with the double header sweep of Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland winning 18-3 and 12-0.

For the first time during the Doug Chance era, the Grizzlies opened up the game with nine straight hits. Butler scored eight runs in the first and another three in the second building a lead the Mavericks were unable to close in on. They added one in the third and three a piece in the fourth and fifth to close it out 18-3.

Anna Icenhower led the way going 2-2 with five RBI's and a homerun. Shayna Espy went 2-2 in the game with four RBI's and a double and a stolen base. Emily Adler, Hannah Knox and Haley Garnett all went 2-2 in the contest. Brooke McCorkle was 1-3 with a homerun and three RBI's. 

Maddie Redman picked up her sixth win of the season pitching three innings. She gave up three hits and two runs and struck out two batters.

It was a much slower start for Butler in the second game as they held a 2-0 lead going into the fourth inning. Things went south quickly for the Mavericks as Butler scored 10 runs in the next three innings and held Tech scoreless to end the game 12-0.

The Grizzlies had 16 hits in the game in their 36 at bats. Madi Young and Shayna Espy hit doubles, Espy with two and Anna Icenhower hit her second homerun of the day in game two. Espy had a team leading four RBI's.
