Butler powers past Broncbusters taking two out west Saturday

The Butler Grizzlies continue to roll now mid-way through the season, picking up two more conference wins in run rule fashion, this time on the road against Garden CIty on Saturday, winning the first game 20-3 before finishing the sweep with a 16-2 victory.

Game One

The Grizzlies combined for 10 runs in the second and third innings as they would power past the Broncbusters in the first game in Garden City. The Grizzlies scored 20 runs on 19 hits in the victory, and three different players hit home runs. Amber Howe, Alex Olson and Reese Briggs all homered in the victory. Emily Adler was sensational again, finishing with five RBIs and four hits in five plate appearances, also earning one walk.

Emma Koeneke improved to 10-1 on the year as she earned the victory in game one, giving up only three hits and two runs in three innings of work, striking out seven.

Game Two

The Grizzlies picked up right where they left off in game one, scoring four runs in the second, third, and fourth innings before three in the fifth as they would cruise to another victory. Three players homered again in the second game, as Briggs, Adler, and Madi Young all hit home run shots. Briggs starred in the victory with four RBIs.

Allyson Montgomery improved to 9-0 on the year with a game two victory as she gave up no runs or hits in three innings of work. Kendal LeGrand allowed only two runs in relief as the two pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts. 

The Grizzlies improve to 19-1 on the year and 9-1 in conference play with the sweep over the Broncbusters. Butler improves their winning streak to nine games and they'll look to keep the streak going with a doubleheader against Labette on Monday.
