Cordova and LeGrand named Jayhawk Conference Player & Pitcher of the Week

After a week that saw the No. 8-ranked Grizzlies go 4-0 at home, Ari Cordova and Kendal LeGrand were honored with Jayhawk Conference Player and Pitcher of the week awards announced the conference office Tuesday.

Ari Cordova, sophomore third baseman from Fort Collins, CO, had a big week offensively for the Grizzlies as they totaled a 4-0 record on the week. Cordova hit .727 on the week going 8-11 from the plate. She drove in nine runs on the week while scoring seven runs. She hit two doubles and had a homerun on the week and added in two stolen bases. She was perfect defensively from third base with a putout and four assists and no errors.

Kendal LeGrand, freshman reliever from Goddard, KS, appeared in three games this past week as a reliever for the Grizzlies. LeGrand had a big performance on Monday coming in relief pitching four shutout innings and getting her first save of the season as Butler defeated Seward 5-4. LeGrand threw seven total innings this past week giving up no runs off just one hit. She struck out six and issued just one walk on the week.

The Grizzlies have now had a player earn Player/Pitcher of the Week the last seven consecutive weeks and had a total of 11 honorees named throughout this season.
