The Butler Grizzlies picked up their 17th series sweep of the season and their 11th straight win as they cruised to two victories over the Seward County Saints in Liberal on Tuesday, picking up a 9-1 win in game one before blitzing the Saints with a 16-5 victory in the second game.

Game 1

A four run fifth inning sealed the run rule victory for the Grizzlies powered by a three RBI double from Emily Adler. Adler finished with two hits and three runs batted in to lead the Grizzlies in the victory. Butler picked up nine runs on seven hits in the first game of the day.

Emma Koeneke picked up win number 19 on the season, as she earned the start and pitched four innings, allowing zero runs and just three hits, striking out three batters.

Game Two

The Grizzlies picked up right where they left off in the second game of the day, scoring seven runs in the first inning and six in the third, as they cruised to a game two victory to finish the sweep. Mariah Wheeler starred in game two, earning two hits and four RBIs, while Madi Young, Emily Adler, Ari Cordova and Brionna Woods both had two. Young's excellent season on the base paths continued as she finished the game with two stolen bases, furthering her season total to 36, and her three hits improved her nation leading batting average to .611.

Allyson Montgomery, defending KJCCC Pitcher of the Week, improved to 16-0 on the year with her game two victory, pitching three innings and allowing two runs on four hits, striking out three.

The Grizzlies' record will extend to 36-2 on the year, and 24-2 as they finish the season sweep of the Saints. It's a quick turnaround for Butler as they will head on their longest road trip in the conference, traveling to Goodland for two games with the Northwest Tech Mavericks on Wednesday.
