Darren has been a valuable resource in the program for years, putting his pitching talents to use throwing batting practice to hitters in preparation for post-season competition.  In recent years, he has helped more frequently throughout the season as his duties have expanded.  Darren has filled the role of bench coach in games, as well as challenging Butler’s hitters throughout the season in practice.

Darren’s playing career includes numerous honors while playing at a very level  in Men’s Fastpitch in the U.S. He was a six time All World North American Fastpitch Association (NAFA) selection, 10 time NAFA All World Series Team selection, and his team won the Kansas State Championship seven times while also winning the NAFA World Series in 2009.

Darren is married to Sherri (Estes) Young, and has three children, Travis, Kenzie, and Madi.
