Grizzlies fall on the road, drop second straight game

MeKayla Furman's 12 points were not enough as the Grizzlies lost their second consecutive game on Wednesday, falling to the Dodge City Conquistadors by one possession, 60-57, in a game that featured eight lead changes and two ties.

The loss will drop the Grizzlies to 10-2, and 5-2 in conference play. 

Neither team had a larger lead than eight. The Grizzlies' largest lead was three points, in the second quarter. Butler trailed by three at halftime, and tied it at 46 early in the fourth quarter. The Grizzlies scored 19 points in the fourth, but still came up just short, failing to get a shot off on the final possession, to lose by just three points.

Furman's 12 points all came in the second half, and she was just two rebounds short of a double double. Syncere Harrod and Jalia Harding both scored 11. The Grizzlies outshot the Conquistadors, finishing the night at 41% from the field, but were hindered by a 4-17 three point shooting performance. They also surrendered 20 points off turnovers and 24 points in the paint. Despite outrebounding Dodge City 31-29 but yielding just seven second chance points. Furman and Cymirah Williams both led the Grizzlies with eight rebounds. 

The Grizzlies will try to get back in the win column, returning home to the Power Plant Saturday for a game against Cloud County with the tip off scheduled for 2:00pm.
