Butler Women picked to finish 4th in KJCCC predicted order of finish

The Butler Grizzlies come into the 2022-23 season in the top half of the KJCCC preseason standings, picked to finish fourth in the Jayhawk Conference. The Grizzlies come in off a 2021-22 season that saw them finish 18-13 on the year and 12-12 in conference play.

Mike Helmer's squad will come into the season looking to get back to the top of the Jayhawk Conference, as they did in three of the past four years. It was Hutchinson who claimed the conference throne last season, and the Blue Dragons are picked as favorites to repeat as conference champions this season, edging out Barton who come in at second. The other team picked ahead of Butler is Seward. The Grizzlies were swept by the Blue Dragons last year, but picked up season splits against Seward and Barton.

The Grizzlies come into the season unranked nationally, but the Jayhawk Conference is represented. The Blue Dragons crack the top ten to open the season, ranked ninth in the preseason poll. Barton is the other Grizzly opponent to feature in the preseason poll nationally, as the Cougars come in ranked 22nd.

The Grizzlies open the season against Bethany College at the Power Plant on Wednesday, November 2nd. Butler will open up conference play two weeks later as they host Colby on November 16th.
