Grizzlies cap of New York trip with double overtime win over No. 9-ranked Iowa Western

The Butler Grizzlies continued their undefeated start to the season with their second win against a top 15 opponent in two days, winning a thriller against ninth ranked Iowa Western, 4-3 in double overtime in Rochester, New York on Saturday.

The Grizzlies had to come from behind twice after the Reivers opened the scoring in the second minute of the game. Last year's top scorer Kim Mcalpine opened her account with a break away goal in the 35th minute off an assist from Kenzee Godwin. Godwin picked up her second assist of the game when she found Yossi Villagrana just after halftime in the 47th minute to give Butler the lead.

The Reivers scored the next two goals to take the lead back from the Grizzlies and they held it until very late in the game. Kenzee Godwin would step up with just three minutes left in the match, scoring her second goal of the season to force overtime. It took double overtime to decide the winner and freshman Brooke Sullivan finally stepped up in the 102nd minute off an assist from Meghann Wingsutton to give the Grizzlies the win.

The win improves sixth ranked Butler's record to 2-0 on the young season. The Grizzlies will travel to Oklahoma City on Friday for their next match against Rose State College.
