The Butler Grizzlies won the Jayhawk East for the 13th time as they clinched the league title after a win at Coffeyville, and they wrapped up a fantastic week by defeating the Jayhawk West leaders, the 17th ranked Barton Cougars. The two victories saw Butler move up in the polls as they climbed one spot to fifth when the newest edition of the rankings that were released on Monday afternoon.
The victory over Barton was Butler's seventh against ranked teams this season, and the 10th time the Grizzlies have played a ranked opponent. Butler is 7-2-1 against ranked opponents this season.
Barton dropped after the loss but remains in the polls, falling one spot to 18th. Hutchinson is the third KJCCC team in the rankings as they dropped two spots to 17th.
The poll also saw a new number one team as Tyler jumped East Florida State after being ranked second last week. Hill College and Seminole State round out the top 4, as both teams remain undefeated and account for the only two losses of the season for Butler. Both teams knocked off the Grizzlies in close battles at BG Stadium early in the season.
Next up for the Grizzlies is the final game of the regular season as end the year at home for Sophomore Night with a game against Kansas City Kansas.
