Grizzlies pick up two wins in Texas Tournament

The Butler volleyball team improved to 6-2 on the season picking up two more wins on the road in Texas at the Bulldog Bash hosted by Clarendon College.

Butler lost their opening match in four sets to No. 6-ranked Blinn College (TX) falling 3-1 (19-25, 25-19, 19-25, 24-26).

They had a big answer after the loss ratting off two 3-0 straight set wins on Saturday defeating Panola College (TX) (25-21, 25-8, 25-22) and tournament host Clarendon (TX) (25-17, 25-15, 25-10).

Ivy Fink had a big weekend from her outside position totaling 36 kills in three matches and tied a season high 16 kills in the opening match with Blinn. She then had a 14 kill, one error, performance in the tournament finale on Saturday against the Bulldogs. Macie Shaver had 71 assists on the weekend while Kayli Duncan chalked up 15 blocks on the weekend. Butler libero and reigning KJCCC Defensive Player of the Week, Caitlyn Rexroat, finished the weekend with a team high 62 digs.

Ivy Fink and Kayli Duncan were both named to the Bulldog Bash All-Tournament Team.

The Grizzlies are (6-2, 0-0) this season with their only two losses coming to NJCAA Top-6 opponents. Butler will open up KJCCC play this week as they play host to the Colby Trojans on Wednesday, September 1st at 6:00pm in the Power Plant.
