Butler volleyball goes 3-0 in Weekend Slam

The Butler volleyball team improved their win streak to eight games and 24 sets won in a row after finishing 3-0 in the Weekend Slam they hosted on Friday and Saturday beating all three opponents in straight sets.

Friday the Grizzlies handled both of their opponents winning in straight sets both matches. Butler defeated KJCCC Div. II team Neosho 25-18, 25-12, 25-17 and then finished the night cap over Rose State College out of Oklahoma 25-10, 25-12, 25-8.

On Saturday, Butler were matchup up with the No. 16-ranked Cardinals of Trinity Valley (TX) and did not back down. Butler defeated the Cardinals in straight sets 25-23, 25-20 and 25-21. 

Kayli Duncan had an outstanding weekend totaling 17 kills and 12 blocks. Rainey Aven chalked up 45 set assists on the weekend, eight kills and five blocks while Caitlyn Rexroat was, again, a rock in the back line defensively totaling 39 digs on the weekend games.

Butler has now won 24-straight sets, with their last set loss coming to No. 3-ranked Blinn College (TX). Butler is 12-2 on the season with their only losses coming to NJCAA Top-10 ranked opponents.

NEXT UP: Butler will continue KJCCC play on Wednesday as they take the trip to Great Bend to face the Cougars of Barton. They will then have a stacked weekend as three of their four opponents in the Hutchinson Tournament are ranked inside the NJCAA Top-20. They play No. 1 Iowa Western on Friday at 5:00pm at the Sports Arena in Hutchison, KS.
