Volleyball continues winning streak; pick up two more wins over ranked teams

The Butler volleyball team picked dup two more wins Saturday afternoon improving their win streak to 13-straight with victories over No. 17- ranked Mineral Area and No. 8 Missouri State University- West Plains. 

Butler defeated both teams in straight sets and have now won 37 of their last 39 sets played, a new Butler record. The Grizzlies defeated Mineral Area 25-15, 25-12, 25-15 and handled MSU-West Plains 25-21, 25-23, 25-17.

Carly Clennan was a force to be reckoned with in the first matchup against Mineral Area as she finished the match with a team high 11 kills on 19 attempts for a hitting percentage of .526. Clennan also added in five blocks. Kayli Duncan put down five of her six attempts while finishing with six total blocks continuing her net dominance from her middle position.

In the second match of the day, it was Ivy Fink, Jaryn Benning and Carly Clennan who were the offensive threats in the match. Fink finished in double digits with 10 kills while Benning and Clennan each had nine and eight in the match. Kayli Duncan posted eight blocks and three kills while libero Caitlyn Rexroat had a team high 27 digs in the match. Rainey Aven finished with 19 set assists while Macie Shaver added in 14. Sydney Morrow served three aces in the match. 

The No. 16-ranked Grizzlies (17-2, 3-0) will now really get into KJCCC play where they sit atop the conference currently at 3-0 with wins over Colby, Hutchinson, and Barton. Butler will travel to Concordia to take on the T-Birds of Cloud County on Wednesday, September 22 at 6:30pm and will return home on Saturday, September 25 for a 2:00pm matchup with Seward.
