Clennan named National ‘Player of the Week’

After leading the Grizzlies to a 5-0 week with a win over No. 1-ranked Iowa Western and two more wins over ranked opponents, Carly Clennan was voted as this week's NJCAA National Offeisive Player of the Week.

This is the first time a Butler volleyball player has won this prestigious award during the Lechtenberg era. It was a huge week on the court for not just Clennan, but the entire Butler team. The Grizzlies are on a 13-game win streak and have won 37 of their last 39 sets played, much of those wins and streaks are due in part to the amazing play from one of Butler's middle blockers, Carly Clennan

Carly Clennan is as local as you can get hailing from El Dorado, KS. Last week, Clennan hit .393 on the week finishing with 43 kills in her 17 sets played from her middle blocker position. Clennan had just six attack errors in her 96 attempts on the week. Clennan averaged a block per set ending the week with 17 blocks. She also served up an ace in the match with Independence. Clennan has helped lead the Grizzlies to win 37 of their last 39 sets played.

Clennan has played in all 19 of the Grizzlies matches this season averaging 2.18 kills per set and hitting .337 on the season. She averages just shy of a block per set having compiled 59 on the season.
