Grizzlies pick up two more wins over ranked opponents; extend winning streak to 22 games

The Butler volleyball team extended their winning streak to 22 games over the weekend picking up wins over No. 15 Indian Hills and Div. II No. 11 Highland, both in straight sets.

It was a game of runs in the match with the Warriors of Indian Hills as twice the Grizzlies went on a 10-0 runs during the match to hold off any comeback attempt from the Warriors. Butler found themselves trailing a few times in the match but didn't get discouraged as they played their game and handled Indian Hills in straight sets 25-21, 25-13, 25-13.

It was a balanced offensive attack as four Grizzlies posted four or more kills. Carly Clennan led the way with five kills while adding in three blocks. Sydney Morrow, Jaryn Benning and Ivy Fink all had four kills. The Grizzlies had a season high 11 service aces in the match with Caitlyn Rexroat and Jaryn Benning each serving four and Sydney Morrow, Ivy Fink and Macie Shaver all with one.

Butler was relentless on the net in the game against Highland as they posted a season high 23 blocks in the match. Kayli Duncan led the way with eight blocks and six kills while Jaryn Benning posted seven blocks and had double digit kills and digs with 11 in each category. Carly Clennan added in seven kills and four blocks and Ivy Fink finished with eight kills and two blocks.

The Grizzlies forced Highland to hit just .035 offensively compared to Butler's .268 hitting percentage in the match.

Butler has now won 22 consecutive games and has won 66 of their last 70 sets played. They will get back into KJCCC action as they hit the road on Wednesday, October 13 for a matchup with Pratt. They return home on Saturday, October 16th for a 6:00pm match against the Barton Cougars.
