Grizzlies win 24th consecutive game, remain undefeated in KJCCC play

After moving up to No. 4 in this week's NJCAA National Poll, the Butler volleyball held serve on the road Monday night defeating the Colby Trojans 3-1 in front of a big Trojan crowd.

"If we want to be the team we know we can be we have to be able to handle adversity on the road," commented head coach Lisa Lechtenberg, "and that is exactly what we did."

Butler came out hot as they have during this hot streak defeating the Trojans 25-16 finishing the set on a 7-0 run to take the 1-0 advantage.

Even though the Grizzlies swung first, the win wasn't handed over by the Trojans Monday night in the newly built Colby Community Event Center, as the Trojans took set two in convincing fashion as Butler couldn't get any kind of run going in the second dropping their first set since September 25 25-13.

Butler turned things around in the third and fourth sets getting back on the attack winning 25-14 and 25-17 to close out the match.

Ivy Fink led with a team high 11 kills on the night while also digging up nine balls with one service ace.  Getting the start for the injured Sydney Morrow, Vanja Przulj took advantage of her opportunity posting a season high kill total with nine and a season high 17 digs in the match. Kayli Duncan was dominant at the net with eight blocks and seven kills while teammate Carly Clennan finished with three blocks and six kills from her middle position. Jaryn Benning kept her serving hot streak alive with three aces on the night to go along with five kills and 12 digs.

The Grizzlies are 12-0 in KJCCC play putting them three games up and just one win away from at least a share of the KJCCC West regular season championship. They will try to solidify that top spot on the road Wednesday at Hutchinson. That match is slated to start at 6:00pm in the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
