The Butler Grizzly volleyball team has worked their way back inside the NJCAA Top-20 national poll checking in at No. 20 in this week's poll.
It was an up and down week for the Grizzlies as it started out with a road loss to Dodge City falling in a five-set battle with the Conqs Wednesday night, their first regular season conference loss since the spring of 2021.
But the Grizzlies rebounded nicely picking up two must win games Friday on the first day of the Blue Dragon Classic. Butler defeated the back-to-back national champions in Iowa Western winning 3-1 and followed that up with a 3-1 win over No. 17 (at the time) Mineral Area. Saturday the Grizzlies played tough but came up short against two very good teams losing 3-2 to MSU-West Plains and 3-0 to No. 2 Indian Hills.
The Grizzlies week proved to be strong enough for the voters to reward the strong efforts over the weekend as the Grizzlies get ranked at No. 20 this week.
Three Region VI teams are in the top-25 with Seward at No. 12 this week, Butler at No. 20 and Hutchinson falling out to receiving votes after a 2-3 week.
This is the first week the Grizzlies have been in the Top-20 since the preseason poll was released with Butler at No. 5.
