Butler Women's Softball player Emma Koeneke and Men’s Track and Field athlete Nazzio John have been selected as Butler Grizzly Athletes of the Week, presented by White Eagle Credit Union.

#24 Emma Koeneke

Emma Koeneke, the Grizzlies sophomore pitcher from Platte City, Missouri had an amazing week in the circle for the Butler Softball team in their six games of action. Koeneke made three starts for the Grizzlies resulting in three wins, two of which she pitched complete games. Emma pitched seventeen innings this week giving up seven earned runs on seventeen hits walking seven batters with an outstanding 21 strikeouts. Koeneke’s best game of the week was against Barton in which she pitched a six inning complete game and gave up only one run on four hits while striking out eleven cougar batters. Koeneke is fifth in the KJCCC in wins with twelve this season. She is second on the Butler pitching staff in several categories including innings pitched (84.1), ERA (3.32), total strikeouts (82), and wins (12). 

Nazzio John

Nazzio John had a successful weekend at the John Jacobs Classic hosted by the University of Oklahoma as he came home with three gold medals after competing in three events. The Grizzlies sophomore from San Antonio, TX was a member of the first place 4x100 meter team as well as the first place 4x400 meter team and took first in the Men’s 200 meter dash.
