Butler track and field sprinters Kayveonna Jackson and Eddy Vu have been selected as the White Eagle Credit Union Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 8 through Jan. 14.

Kayveonna Jackson (Women’s Track and Field)

Jackson, a freshman from Tulsa, Okla., had an impressive first week competing for the Grizzlies. She won the 60m race at the Friends First Chance Qualifier, running it in 7.57 seconds. The 7.57 second mark is good for third best in the entire NJCAA and qualified her for the NJCAA indoor national meet. At the Graduate Classic hosted by the University of Nebraska, Jackson won the 200m race running it in 24.83. That mark was also third best in the NJCAA this season and qualified her for the national meet running the 200m. Jackson also placed second in the 200m at the Grad Classic, running 7.53.

Eddy Vu (Men’s Track and Field)

Vu, a sophomore from Shirley, New York, also made his mark at the national level after just one weekend of competing. Vu won the 60m dash at the Friends First Chance Qualifier, running a 6.66 to qualify himself for the NJCAA Nationals. He later paced third at the Graduate Classic in Lincoln in the 200m, running it in 22.22 seconds. His 60m mark of 6.66 is the second best in the country at the NJCAA level this season.
