Butler women’s basketball forward Freddie Wallace and men’s basketball forward Charles McClennahan Jr. have been selected as the White Eagle Credit Union Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 1 through Jan. 7.

Freddie Wallace (Women’s Basketball)

Wallace, a sophomore from Lincoln, Nebraska, led Butler in scoring in both games the past week as the Grizzlies were 1-1 with a loss to Hutchinson and a road win over Colby. In a loss to No. 11 Hutchinson Wednesday, Wallace had a game-high 18 points to go with eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks. In a road win at Colby, Wallace posted 21 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. The points and blocks were game-highs. Wallace has scored 10 or more in 13 of Butler's 14 games this season and is averaging 19.2 ppg.

Charles McClennahan Jr. (Men’s Basketball)

McClennahan Jr., a sophomore from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, topped his career-high in a win over Colby on Saturday. He posted 15 points and four rebounds in a narrow loss to No. 21 Hutchinson on Wednesday, knocking down 8-10 free throws and also adding three assists. On Saturday, McClennahan Jr. had a game-high 21 points (new career-high) also pulling down five rebounds and adding two blocks and a steal. He helped lead the Grizzlies to a double-digit road win at Colby.
