Butler soccer defender Alayna Runck and Butler volleyball outside hitter Sarah Sullivan have been selected as Butler Grizzly Athletes of the week for the week of Sept. 4 through Sept. 10, presented by White Eagle Credit Union.

Alayna Runck (Soccer)

Runck (Maize) scored Butler's lone goal in the 1-1 draw at No. 16 ranked Hutchinson on Wednesday. Runck headed a ball off a Butler corner kick. It proceeded to bounce off the right post but Runck followed the miss and pushed the ball in to give Butler a 1-0 lead, breaking 61 minutes of solid defense from both teams. The goal was Runck's first of the season.

Sarah Sullivan (Volleyball)

Sullivan (Henderson, NV), a true freshman, helped Butler to a 1-1 week with a win over Friends JV and a loss to fifth-ranked D2 Cowley at home. Sullivan hit an impressive .571 vs. Friends, landing nine kills on 14 attempts, also adding four digs, four service aces and two blocks for an all-around impressive performance. Against Cowley’s stout front line Sullivan landed eight kills on a respectable .269 hitting percentage while just missing out on the double-double as she posted 12 digs.
