#11 Red Ravens Struggle in Second Half in 70-64 Loss vs Butler

Coffeyville, Kan. - A rough second half leads the #11 NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team to their second loss of the season in a 70-64 loss to the Grizzlies of Butler Community College.  Coffeyville's overall record moves to 9-2 overall after the loss including a 3-2 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) games.

The first half of this game went swimmingly for Coffeyville as they built a 32-18 lead at halftime.  However, the second half proved to be a different story for the Red Ravens.

Early in the second half Coffeyville moved out to their biggest lead of the game at 38-20 with just a shade under 18 minutes left in the game.  The tide turned as Butler responded with a 24-6 run to pull even with Coffeyville at 44-44 with twelve minutes left to play.  Over the next three minutes, Coffeyville slowly pushed ahead 55-48.  However, it was not to be for Coffeyville on this night as Butler took the game as they finished the last nine minutes on a 22-9 run to post the final score of 70-64 and hand Coffeyville their second loss of the season.

A couple of stats that jumped out in this loss for the Ravens was that Coffeyville had a cold night from behind the arc, only shooting 24% (6/25).  Secondly, Coffeyville posted 17 turnovers to Butler's 10.  The combination of those two stats had Coffeyville struggling offensively throughout the night.

Red Raven freshman forward Hayden Brittingham paced Coffeyville with 20 points (9/11 field goals) and 8 rebounds.  Brittingham left the game with a couple of minutes remaining with a lower leg injury and did not return.

Coffeyville's freshman guard Camian Shell was also in double digits scoring 14 points on 3/3 shooting from behind the 3-pt line.

Coffeyville will be back in Nellis Hall on Saturday, December 3rd with a 4:00 pm tip-off against the #22 ranked Barton Cougars.
