Murrell Picks Up KJCCC West Player of the Week Award

Butler baseball outfielder Cole Murrell was named the KJCCC West Division Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Murrell played in four of Butler's five games on the week, helping them to a 3-1 record in games he played in. Butler picked up a win over Rose State and took a series 3-1 over Colby.

He hit .625, slugged 1.188 and had an on-base percentage of .684 in 15 at bats and four games played. The Springfield native tallied 10 hits, eight RBI and walked three times compared to just two strikeouts. In a midweek win over Rose State, Murrell was 3-5 with three runs driven in including a two-run home run. He was 3-3 with two RBI in a loss at Colby on Saturday and later that afternoon turned in a 4-5 performance, driving in three runs and homering twice. 

On the season Murrell is hitting .333 with a .471 on-base percentage. He has 20 RBI and six home runs.
